Dan Rayfield Announces Candidacy for House District 16

October 9, 2013

CORVALLIS – Corvallis resident and local attorney Dan Rayfield announced his campaign for House District 16 today.

Rayfield has already earned the support of leaders in the local area and around the state.  Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian, Former State Senator Cliff Trow, State Representative Sara Gelser, Benton County Commissioners Linda Modrell and Annabelle Jaramillo, Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson, and Corvallis City Councilors Hal Brauner, Roen Hogg, Biff Traber, Penny York and Joel Hirsch are among his early endorsers for the post.

“Dan has tremendous energy, he’s creative, and most importantly he has the right values when it comes to education, job creation, and the environment,” said former State Senator Cliff Trow.  “I will be pleased to see him working for us in Salem.”

“Dan understands that education creates opportunity for people and for businesses,” said Corvallis School Board member Anne Schuster.  “He gets the relationships between education, opportunity in life, and a strong economy, and that’s why I am supporting him.”

In 2010, Rayfield ran for the State Senate, gathering over 20,000 votes in Linn and Benton County.  Rayfield’s campaign boosted its grass roots approach by knocking on over 40,000 doors.

“Local values like quality education, affordable healthcare, and vibrant small business are crucial to our future,” said Rayfield.  “I’m running for the House to fight for these values and make sure this community’s future is a bright one.”

Dan Rayfield’s community involvement includes serving on the board of the Linn-Benton Housing Authority, Past-President of the Board of the Majestic Theatre Management, and Past-President of the Linn-Benton Bar Association. He attended Western Oregon University and the Willamette University School of Law. Rayfield lives in Corvallis with his wife Amanda and son Adam.
