CORVALLIS – Representative Dan Rayfield (D-Corvallis) was honored this month as one of the Oregon Nurses Association’s 2017-2018 Friends of Nursing award recipients. The award recognizes legislators who championed legislation to support Oregon’s nurses, their families, and the patients they serve during the 2017 and 2018 legislative sessions.
“It’s an honor to be acknowledged by the Oregon Nurses Association,” Rayfield said. “It has been rewarding to work with ONA and its members to ensure all Oregonians have access to affordable healthcare.”
Rayfield has consistently been one of the legislature’s strongest supporters of funding for programs that aid nurses. Rayfield was recognized with the Oregon Nurses Association’s Friend of Nursing award at the end of the 2015 legislative session, making this Rayfield’s second consecutive year receiving the award from the organization.
“We’re thrilled to honor Representative Rayfield with a Friend of Nursing Award on behalf of the Oregon Nurses Association,” said Linda Ramsey, ONA PAC Board Member. “From his dedication to ending arbitrary barriers to practice for nurse practitioners to his enthusiasm for tobacco cessation and stalwart protection of workers’ rights, Representative Rayfield continues to be a champion for nurses in his district and across Oregon.”
The Oregon Nurses Association will present Representative Rayfield and his fellow award recipients with their Friends of Nursing awards on April 19th, at an awards ceremony in Bend.
“Nurses provide invaluable services across all aspects of our healthcare system,” said Rayfield. “I look forward to working with them in the future to improve the health of our communities.”
