Rayfield Begins Summer Series with Health Care Forum

CORVALLIS – Representative Dan Rayfield (D-Corvallis) will begin his summer educational series with a legislative healthcare forum on June 12th from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. The forum, which is the first in a four-part series, will feature a panel of political leaders and experts, including Representative Rob Nosse (D-Portland), Representative Sheri Malstrom (D-Beaverton), Jeremy Vandehey, Health Policy Director for the Oregon Health Authority, and Felisa Hagins, Political Director for SEIU Local 49. Panelists will educate and answer questions from the community about local and statewide health care policy.

“We’re looking forward to heading down to Corvallis to talk about statewide goals concerning healthcare,” said Nosse. Nosse currently works as a labor advocate for the Oregon Nurses Association, and serves as the Vice Chair of the House Committee on Health Care.

Panelists at the upcoming forum will begin by discussing Oregon’s overall healthcare structure, followed by a brief discussion of what Oregon’s healthcare programs will look like for the next few years. Panelists will also answer community members’ questions about local and statewide healthcare policy.

“It’s important to have discussions about Oregon’s healthcare-related priorities, both now and into the future,” Malstrom said. Malstrom has more than 30 years of experience as a public health nurse, and serves as a member of the House Health Care Committee.

The legislative health care forum will take place at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library from 7:00pm – 8:30pm on June 12th.
