Rayfield Honored as 2017 Children's Champion

CORVALLIS – Representative Dan Rayfield (D-Corvallis) was honored earlier this month as one of the Oregon Alliance of Children’s Programs’ 2017 Children’s Champions in recognition of his support of child care programs in Oregon.

“It’s an honor to be recognized,” Rayfield said. “Working to make sure our children have a brighter future and access to the resources they need to be successful will always be a top priority of mine. I will continue to ensure that our children, and those who help care for them, receive the services that they need and deserve.”

During the 2017 legislative session, Rayfield was one of the legislature’s strongest advocates of programs that help children in a variety of ways, including child welfare, foster care, and health care. These programs will help children in crisis and stabilize the communities they live in.

“We can’t imagine this work being done without an incredible amount of commitment, brain power, and tough negotiating for the needs of Oregon’s children,” said Janet Arenz, executive director of the Oregon Alliance of Children’s Programs. “Rayfield’s work has already made an impact.”

The Oregon Alliance of Children’s Programs advocates for the needs of children and their families. The Children’s Champion award, which was presented on Jan. 12, recognizes legislators who advanced policies to support critical programs for children in need throughout the state of Oregon.
