Representative Rayfield and Representative Olson to Hold Marijuana Town Hall

December 3, 2015

Salem – Representative Dan Rayfield (D-Corvallis) and Representative Andy Olson (R-Albany) are co-hosting a Town Hall on Wednesday, December 9th, to discuss the current implementation of Measure 91 – legalization of recreational marijuana – at the state and local level.  The Town Hall will be held from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at the Corvallis-Benton County Public Library in Corvallis.

“Since Oregon voters passed Measure 91 last November to legalize recreational marijuana, the Legislature, state agencies, and local governments have been working hard to implement the measure.  A number of regulation changes have occurred over the past year, with some still to come” said Rayfield.

“We want to make sure the public has an opportunity to learn about all of the changes and ask any questions they may have” said Olson.  Olson currently serves as a member of the legislative committee overseeing implementation of Measure 91.

Rayfield and Olson will kick off the Town Hall with a summary of Measure 91 and the work the Legislature has done subsequent to passage of the measure.  Steven Marks, Executive Director of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission will also provide an overview of the specific regulations around state licensing of dispensaries.  Corvallis Chief of Police Jon Sassaman will then discuss how changes around marijuana regulation are being approached and enforced at the local level in Corvallis.

The Town Hall will conclude with a discussion and question and answer session with all of the speakers.
